Great Gift Idea-Tickets to Ten Grands

Ten Pianos. Ten Pianists. One roof. One stage. One night only. All to promote the performing arts and help make them accessible throughout Washington State.

You are invited to experience an extraordinary evening of superb musical talent on May 17th, 2008, at Benaroya Hall.

The first event of its kind in Seattle, Ten Grands and the Snowman Foundation have partnered with PONCHO to bring you an exceptional evening of individual and simultaneous musical performances from 10 amazing pianists, ranging from classical to jazz to pop and everything in between (for further information on the evening’s artists, click here.

Ten Grands is the vision of the Snowman Foundation to promote the musical arts in the Pacific Northwest. What began as the vision of Northwest composer and pianist Michael Allen Harrison has evolved into a multi- community effort which shares the joy, the healing, the learning, and the life-changing gifts music has to offer. PONCHO is proud to be selected as the beneficiary of the evening’s proceeds.

“What makes our partnership with PONCHO work is their 45 years of supporting the arts and artists in this area,” said Stephen Dewalt, RBC Dain Rauscher, the event’s main sponsor, “Their experience and insight into the arts gives us confidence that the proceeds from 10 Grands will make a difference in our children and in our arts community.”

Tickets are NOW available at Ticketmaster or call 206.292.ARTS—just in time for the holidays.

Major Sponsors and promoters include: RBC Dain Rauscher, Sherman Clay, Seattle Weekly, ZINO Society, Seattle Youth Symphony, Rainier Club, Steinway and Sons.

Beneficiary Spotlight: Gage Academy of Art

Classical Training for Contemporary Artists.

Gage Academy changed its name from Seattle Academy of Fine Art in May 2006. Their reasoning was simple. Offering adult and youth intensive art instruction, their main goal: engage the student.

As a PONCHO beneficiary since 2003, Gage has used PONCHO’s support to help fund their Summer Youth Scholarships; children and teens who otherwise would never have intensive art training. The five-week Teen Intensive program not only introduces 15-18 year olds to all artistic media, but also equips the students with the skills and certification to succeed in a professional art career. Working from models, the Frye Art Museum collection, and the mentorship of local practicing artists, students in the Teen Intensive access their potential to create art for the rest of their lives.

While programs, like Teen Intensive, need financial support for sustenance, Executive Director Pamela Belyea emphasized the Gage partnership with PONCHO:

"Support from PONCHO is a good housekeeping seal of approval,” said Belyea. “You have received the good housekeeping of approval for the quality and delivery of your organization."
